Church Records, Dublin
« on: Monday 28 November 11 14:42 GMT (UK) »
Hello Rootschatters,

I am wondering if anyone can help me. Can anyone tell me if all the parish records for Dublin have been put online at irishgenealogy.ie?  If not can you tell me which parish records are missing?

         Thank you.

         Kindest regards,

         Nora

What area and denomination are you looking for ?

Most of the records on IrishGenealogy are for the city, but it does include some for the suburbs and county.

Hi Shane,

Thanks for your speedy reply.  I am not sure of an area of birth in Dublin. I am just going by names at the moment. I am looking for births but cannot find them. They would be Catholic but I have one line that may be Protestant. Not 100% sure on that.

     Kindest regards,

     Nora

Unfortunately no matter how many parishes are added online, there will always be gaps and missing records.

At the moment at least one major City RC parish not included on IrishGenealogy would be St. Pauls, Arran Quay. This is only available on RootsIreland (pay-website). Many of the county Dublin parishes (but not all) are also included on the same site.

Hi Shane,

Many thanks for that. I will give them a try and see what comes up. If I don't find them there then I don't know where to go next.

     Kindest regards,

     Nora

are you certain these births took place in Dublin ?

If you have a couple of names and approx. birth dates maybe post the details here to see if anyone might find anything for you.. (include any census details, or later marriages if you have them)

Hi Shane,

Thanks for your reply to my post. I am searching my MITCHELL  and FOTTRELL lines at the moment. I am looking for the births of:-

Alice MITCHELL born approx 1850s  father William MITCHELL. Lived at 21 Cork St, Dublin. Fathers occupation was vintner.

Bridget FOTTRELL. born approx 1830? married 1852 In St James Church (R.C). Mother Margaret.

Bridget was married to Peter MITCHELL, possible brother to the above William.

I have searched everywhere but no luck on these. Thanks for any help in advance.

    Kindest regards,

    Nora
