Who were his parents?

I am looking for the parents of William Victor George Upham. He was born in Somerset on 23 April 1925 and died in 1992. It says says his mother was Acourt. I have found a marriage in 1919 of a William Upham to Lydia Court, perhaps this is them.
I have looked in census records for the Frome area of Somerset for a William or a Lydia but nothing.

What is the source for the Date of Birth and mother's name? Do you have a birth cert?

I have his date of birth from his son who had an old passport. Ancestry have his birth with mother being Acourt.  I have found a marriage in 1919 of a William Upham to a Lydia Court, but nothing for an Acourt.

You have two options Frankle,either you purchase that birth cert(then you'd be 100% certain) or you take a guess at the two who you found in 1919 being his parents.

Did they have anymore children,Upham with a mmn of Acourt.
You would have expected the first child to have been born a couple of years after the marriage.

There are two other births for an Upham with mothers maiden name Acourt, the first in 1920 Frome reg dist and one after your William also in Frome RD.
I have not given details in case they are still living.


There are no birth registrations on freebmd after the 1919 marriage for an Upham mmn Court.

I wonder if when they gave her name LydiA Court someone though it should be ACOURT?

There is no Lydia Acourt in the 1911 census but there is a Maud Lydia Court age 18 in Bristol and a birth registration Jun 1892  for a Maud Lydia Court  Bedminster    5c   643

Stan's Lydia is certainly worth looking at. I was going to say Acourt is also showing on freebmd and census as 'A  Court'   but still no Lydia.

ADDED there is only one instance of an Acourt in Frome RD
