Bingo!  You were spot on Wilcoxon!  William Evans parents were EVAN EVANS and ELIZA.  Looking back at some very old notes of mine I saw that I too had thought they might have been the pair but I needed the proof.  So there's not the link with the Jolly Forgeman Inn that I originally thought (except that Elsie Evans was born there whilst her father was the inn keeper).

Now to start looking for Eliza's maiden name.  I have a feeling I might have to come back to the thread for help on this.

James

Hello Morganllan.

Thank you for all this work - You have been busy.  You are absolutely spot on with the family.

I've further  discovered that Eliza's maiden name was Edwards - marriage to Evan at Wrexham, Dec qutr 1867, 11b pg 537.

Onwards and upwards.

James

A tip for you, if you find a North Wales marriage, check it out on http://www.northwalesbmd.org.uk/index.php

It will tell you if it was a Civil Marriage or Church. In this case it was at Hope Parish Church.

North Wales Marriage indexes for the years: 1867
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
EVANS Evan EDWARDS Eliza Hope, St Cynfarch Flintshire (Mold) C111/01/E328
