Cpl Edward Hanslip 1 Battalion E. Lancs. Regiment
« on: Monday 19 December 11 22:30 GMT (UK) »
I don't know if anyone can help. Edward Hanslip was originally an 'Accrington Pal' in 11 Battalion E. Lancs. Regt. He was wounded first day of Somme and transferred to 1 Battalion where he remained until his death on 21 March 1918. He has no known grave and I have wanted to try a pinpoint his last days. There is a war diary for 1 Battalion (and 11th) but it ends in January 1918 as far as I can tell from the WO documents. Anyone know of a diary beyond then or how to find out? Thanks.

Hello and Welcome to Rootschat.

Is WO 95/3061 the one you are looking for?

That seems exactly right - do you know if it is online or needs to be viewed at Kew? Many thanks.

Sorry to bother you again, you've been of great help. Unfortunately I cannot open the .jpgs - says I don't have permission. I've registered with the forum but it doesn't seem to matter.

oh and I've validated it. Is there some form of vetting / time delay before you can post or view?
