Rice Family Armagh
« Reply #9 on: Monday 26 December 11 23:08 GMT (UK) »
I am researching the Rice Family from Armagh who attended St Mark,s Church the Mall Armagh
Lee Rice died during WW1,but I am having problems finding out details of his background and death,as far as I know there is "Rice" families in Armagh city before the Great War,one at Mullinure a farmer and one a soldier in Armagh Barracks, who then went to live on the Newry Road,in 1911 there was also a Rice who lived  on the Mall. I do not know if the familys  are related.

Any one with any information on the Rice family,s?
Thank you
Joe

I've merged this post with your previous thread on Lee Rice. His death certificate will list exact place and cause of death and will give name of an informant who may be a relative.

Link to Lee Rice with uncle Lee Rice in 1901 census-

I searched immigration records on ancestry

The first passenger list is hard to read but it shows that when he sailed to New York in 1913 he was a Marine Officer.

It also shows that his main residence before departure was Glasgow.

He returned to Scotland from  New York in July 1914.

What I don't know is where he was from 1901 to 1913 and what he did from 1914 before he joined the RN .

Can any one help?
Many thanks
Joe

Up date on Lee Rice
Lee Rice Joined Royal Naval Transport Service during the war 1914/15.
He was given a military funeral when he died in 1917 in St Marks Armagh.
I am trying to find which ship he was on when he became ill.
There is a site which lists the Crew & ships of WW1.Royal Navy Transort Service.
Does any member know which site? I have had no joy finding the site.
 Many thanks
 Joe
