Lizzi, There was no Alexander in 1861 index with family, I'm sure this is the right family as the following children were born to James and Mary Munro.

Gender: Female Christening: 12 MAR 1843 Gorbals, Lanark, Scotland
JOHN MUNRO - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 11 NOV 1844 Gorbals, Lanark, Scotland
ALEXANDER MUNRO  - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 26 FEB 1859 Hutchesontown, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
MARY MUNRO  - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Birth: 09 MAY 1852 Alness, Ross And Cromarty, Scotland
DONALD MUNRO - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 11 DEC 1849 Alness, Ross And Cromarty, Scotland
JAMES MUNRO  - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 06 APR 1856 Blythswood, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland

1861 index.

James Munro age 45 born Rosskeen,  Ross and Cromarty
Mary age 39 born Glasgow
John age 16 born Glasgow
