Can anyone locate the site of Garth Brickworks, if you find it on the map then you can set it to a permanent link for me to see.
I`ve attached a pic of it from  very good web site all about brick companies.
Thanks.

It looks like Roberts and "Maginesses" Brickyard to me.It was actually in Trevor.Coming from Llangollen towards Ruabon,it was just past the Australia Arms Inn just over the junction for the Garth turn off.

It was known locally as the "donkey factory"!

From looking at the Census entry it appears Derwen Deg was also very close to the Australia Arms.

Hello  :)

There is a housing estate on the site of the old brickworks in Trevor. WR is right about the location.

Llangollen museum has an old photograph of Trevor which shows the chimneys of the brickworks:
http://www.llangollenmuseum.org.uk/Archives/exhibit2/e22733b.htm

and there is some info about the brickworks on this site:
http://www.cpat.org.uk/projects/longer/histland/llangoll/vlindu.htm
"The former brickworks at Garth were in operation near the Australia Arms public house in 1862, operating at first with a single kiln near the road, which produced ‘large quantities of good, sound and serviceable cherry red bricks, which are well adapted for all ordinary building purposes’......"

Kind Regards
Morgan
