Nearest I can find

From FaMILY SEARCH:
William Jameson 30 Mar 1749 baptised at St Vincent St Scotch Church Stepney, London.  Nothing showing for Suffolk - is this close enough to Suffolk??     son of David and Helen Jameson  It is an extracted entry - so backed up by church records.

There is another father James
born 23 Jul 1749  -  baptised 30 Jul  Newchurch Kenyon Lancs - mother's name not recorded - this also is an extracted entry.

Next nearest to Suffolk is one in Norfolk   submitted entry so not substantiated.

William Jempson  about 1744 North Pickenham Norfolk - no parents names given.   He married Mary Norton according to this entry

OK  - one for 1746 - but in Cheshire

William Jemson   father Ralph Jemson  baptised 6 Jul 1746.  No mother's name.

One other with very little information attached  no dates but came up with 1746 search

- parents James and Elizabeth Jameson of Slaley, Northumberland.

Bet you've found all these have you?

Hi there,

Thanks for the help! I am not sure where to go on this one. The names aren't really reflected in the children's names at all - one Elizabeth...

I wonder if you can help direct me to military records. Maybe if I can see enlistment details...???

Adebec  ???

Have you tried putting a post on the military boards Adebec?    Maybe they would be the place to go for that information?

Hi Adebec

The IGI at familysearch is incomplete, but luckily most of Suffolk's parish records are available on microfiche and many RootsChatters have copies.  However, there is not a central database so you really would need a parish in which to search. :(

Hi Adebec,
Go on line, type in nswbdm and click on Family History- New South Wales.
Click on Deaths  and fill in information.
If I have it correct (William Jamieson) you should get the registration number V18021095 4/1802
and you can order the Death Certificate.
This may give you the information you are looking for.
Cheers,

HI jammy40,

I have already done that, but sadly it is a burial register not a death certificate, so there is next to nothing on it! But thanks for the advice...

Cheers, AdeBec

The Suffolk Burial Index (Suffolk FHS) covers most of the parishes in the County it records very few (15 to be exact) Jameson/Jamieson/Jamson burials, which does not bode well for your chap coming from Suffolk unless he was the son of a military family stationed in barracks (Ipswich) or a seafaring family that were here briefly.

I found a couple Abraham & Mary Jameson in Withersfield.  Buried twin daugs in Aug 1788; an Alexander Jameson buried in Sudbury 1810 age 53; a James Jamieson buried 1807 age 36 (Sgt Major Royal Artill) buried Ipswich.

There do not seem to be any marriages listed on the Suffolk Marriage Index in those names either.
