"Private Motor Mechanic" Royal Warwickshire Regiment
« on: Monday 02 January 12 23:10 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,
I have a mystery relative in 1920, Bromley, Kent....

"Private Motor Mechanic, Royal Warwickshire Regiment"  - No Service Number or battalion

The only "Mechanics" I have so far found have been naval ranks.

Possibly too young to have fought overseas, (no medal card or service record found), common enough name with about a dozen spelling variations.

Is there any way of telling which Battalions might have had such a rank, and might have been in NW Kent c.1920??  Or is this just a non-starter?   :-\

Thanks,
Timoth

Is it possibly Private - motor mechanic thereby indicating his rank as Private

You think it's a valid rank?

Private is a valid rank

I see... and does "Private - Motor Mechanic" mean that he is likely to be in a "service battalion"?

In 1920 - I haven't a clue.  Perhaps it was his occupation before enlisting or perhaps he was learning a trade post-WW1

It was just a suggestion but unless you are able to obtain further info - it may remain a mystery

I am assuming the info was obtained from either a marriage or birth cert

Does anyone know where the various battalions were as at 1918/1919 for training or when demobbed?
