The Downs School, Sutton Road, Seaford
« on: Friday 06 January 12 20:10 GMT (UK) »
Hello
Does anyone have any photos of the above school from 1911.   My relative Amy Muriel Lloyd Ainslie/Spink was there according to the 1911 census, aged 16.
Thank you in advance
Regards

Hi

This is slightly later and doesn't have the picture, but if you contacted the Sussex Express they might be able supply a copy

If you haven't already seen it there is also information about the school here:

Hi Jan, I don't know which year you wrote this.  Now it is 2017!!!
I recently wrote a book which included present days photos of the Downs from 2014 and also days when I was at school from my old school album in the 1960's.  Can send any photos if you like.

Hello Arabella, Just happen upon this site and your short reply to someone.  I 'grew-up' (b 1948) with The Downs School as a backdrop - our house being near the NW corner of the attached playing field.  In our road were the 6? dormitories and sanitarium. I believe the school secretary lodged in our house - pre WW2!  Blue capes, velvet evening dresses, laceosse, the fireworks and Tchaikovsky's Sugar Plum Fairy!
