Hi  . I am looking for the above families  from approx 1830s  in the  Wanganui / Taranaki regions.  I believe most of them came  for the Weslyan Methodist  missions in that broader area. 

  Several of them were Early Settlers .

Have just had a look to see whether others might be researching "your families" and was interested to find there are a number of "trees" featuring Robert Leavley ROBINSON.

This man was apparently a Wesleyan Preacher who died at Greytown (Wairarapa) in 1884.   His wives are named as -- (1)  Alice DRING and (2) Ann JEFFS.

James RISK (the husband of Margaret) died in 1907 whilst on a visit to Feilding.

There are at least two obituaries published for James RISK which give a good account of his "roots".

Yes  ... that was an awful lot of "spondulicks" back in those days.   

Thought there might have been a Probate record for James RISK (with a copy of his will), but can't see one.

If it is his wife Margaret RISK who dies in 1932 - aged 88 (born c. 1844) ... then there is a Probate file for her at the Archives.
I can take a look at it for you if you would like.  Let me know.

 that would be kind of you to do that.   It would be interesting to know what  they left behind.   My  real quest is to eventually find photos of where they lived and what they looked like.  Sheer curiosity and fascination.  I have limited access to the various resources.  I have not found anything tangible apart from a  couple of early 1900s photos of  folk who maybe  related  to my direct ancestors

Have now viewed the will of Margaret RISK.

[Note:  The true value of her estate was not specified in the documents.]

Grant of Probate to Public Trustee, the executor named in the will.

WILL of Margaret RISK of Wanganui who died on 18 July 1932.

Will dated :    10 June 1931

1.   Appoints Public Trustee as executor.

2.   Gives and bequeaths all my freehold land situate at Raetihi, together with all  buildings and erections thereon, unto my Trustee.

(a)  To permit and allow my daughter Mary RISK to have free use and income and enjoyment free of all duties during her lifetime subject to her paying all rates and outgoings.

(b)  From and after the death of the survivor of my said daughter and me, for my two grandchildren James MABBOTT and Frank Samuel MABBOTT (children of my daughter Amy) in equal shares.

3.   I give devise and bequeath the whole of my estate both real and personal not hereinafter disposed of upon trust the residue to my children who survive, as tenants in common in equal shares, share and share alike.
