« on: Wednesday 18 January 12 11:29 GMT (UK) »
Hi Could somebody please help me, I am searching for the Death of my G/Grandfather who was born in Castle Donnington 25 September 1833. He married Ann Parsons 29 October 1855,he was in the 1871 Census in Burton on Trent there is a funny word which is hard to decipher under the Imbecile item, he then disappears and on my Grandfathers Birth Certificate it states he was dead. We have searched everywhere but unable to find him, without it we will not know if the child is his.Would appreciate any help you can give me.
Regards Anthony

The marriage of Anne Fowkes to John Towns at St Paul, Burton in 1880.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

It seems to be 'Shrop' (ie Shropshire) - it's in a different handwriting.

Hi Thanks for your answer we wondered if it was Shropshire too but if he was there in 1871 would he have been listed on 1871 Census? for Burton, have searched forever for his Death and as James George was born in 1874 he would have bee dead by then according to his Birth Certificate.
