Hi to all,
my first time on the forum and I delighted with all the expertise that you all have to offer.
Can anyone help me find (,as stated on his sons wedding cert, 1892,}bernard ryan , photographer.
I have traced him back to Mullingar, co Westmeath, but no marriage certs, lots of children.
Anything at all, Thanks

Welcome to Rootschat, Pauline. :)

Are you trying to trace Bernard's family roots in Mullingar or his involvement with photography?

You have some information about his family and origins so it would be best to state what you are searching for and what you already know.

It may be that your post should be on the Westmeath board or wherever Bernard practised his business.

As you say, there is lots of help here but help with the direction of the search is also useful.

best wishes
heywood

That would be best if you are searching his parents etc.

Where was his son married? Did the family move away from Ireland?

Hi Pauline,

I can see the marriage and 1901 census entry. Bernard is 'deceased' on marriage certificate - presumably you have the Mullingar reference from 1911 census which often shows an Irish birthplace.

I will ask for this thread to be moved to Westmeath board now.

Irish births and baptisms has a Stephen Ryan 16 April 1865 -parents Bernard yan and Ann Wheelehan. There are other children to these parents  - and variations of 'Wheelehan'.

This is perhaps the birth reference civil births
