Thanks for this! I am also descended from Edward Tebutt (through his daughter Mary, and William Jervis, the family servant whom she married in Canada).

About the will being probated later, that is not actually that uncommon, because I think all children have to be of age for the will to be officially settled.

Hi,  I am at a standstill in my research for now, do you have a lot of information on the Tebbutts?  I am descended down Edward Jr's line.  Do you have any information on why they named the estate 'Omerod'(?)  Or which ship they came over on?

I don't know much more than the information compiled in the Goderich Township History and Goderich Township Families books. I think the name "Omerod" is a mystery, but I do know the land was purchased from J. & W. Jones and Josiah Turnbull.

My father seems to recall  a story about the previous owners unsuccessfully trying to run the farms as an 'estate', using servant labour, which didn't work. However, although he read this in some article/book on county history, he can't remember the source.

I did find a record of Mary Wallgate's birth in Weaverthorpe, though, and it lists her parents as James & Elizabeth.
