Both your Patricks were born well before the start of Full Civil records in Ireland (1864), so you would need to check what, if any, parish records are available. To do this you would need to know the denomination of your Delahunty family and where in Co. Kilkenny they lived - i.e. parish or townland.

see : Introduction to Irish Records
My Ancestor came from Ireland - where do I start?

The earliest available complete Irish census is the one for 1901 - see the topic above.

Hello Joanne
I have a Bridget Delahunty/Dulahunty who married David Reade/Reid in 1817 in St. Patricks Church  Kilkenny. Bridget's father was Patrick. Is this any relation of yours? Debra

You may be able to find civil registration of Patrick junior's death
Do you know spouse names for either of the Patricks

1864 is date for civil registration in Ireland.
Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845

The Roman Catholic registers will be available online in July this year
