Rev William Owen Marriage to Catherine Griffiths abt 1870 - Closed

Hoping for some assistance in our Family Search for the marriage of the Rev William Owen b abt 1857 in Talybont
and his wife Catherine Griffiths b 1857 in Nevin.
On the 1891 Census  they are living at Rectory, Syemta Terrace, Llanfrothen, Garreg, Merionethshire.

William was Age  34 , and Catherine 34 with 1 daughter Mary Catherine age 2 - born in Liverpool - have found this Birth entry.
and one son John b 1890 at Llanfrothen.
RG12 Piece 4647 Folio 53 Page 11

So hoping for any information or suggestion as to their marriage .

I think a Pembroke marriage is highly unlikely, regardless of ages,  given their wherabouts - North Wales and Liverpool

Could I check that Catherine's parents were an Evan and Elizabeth Griffiths?

The family are living in Nevin in 1881 - RG11/5561/29/1

2 possibilities
There is a Sept 1872 marriage at Dolgelly, and a December 1895 at Cardiff.

William in 1881 - RG11/5561/89/10

Both in Caernarfonshire in 1881 then - so married between 1881 and 1891. Probably  Caernarvonshire or Liverpool area, I think. Unless they didn't marry.

Have you found them on the 1911?

The Free Index search suggests that they are  in the Liverpool area. Sorry that we can't give any more info from this census - terms and conditions of FindMyPast/rootschat's policy..

This will show how long they were married, which would be a starting point for you.

Added - also, did you get the surname from one of the children's birth certs? i can find a few possible marriages in the right area but not to a Griffiths

The 1911 Census has the family at 98 Shaw St, Everton, Liverpool
William age 54 b 1857 and
Catherine age 54 b 1857
Married 26 years - 1885 for  their wedding.
Children at home
Mary Catherine b 1857 Liverpool
David Thomas b1893 Llanfrothen
Annie b1897 Llanfrothen
Elizabeth b1899 Llanfrothen
Lilian May b1902 llanfrothen

The Catherine Griffiths is from an old document drawn up by my Uncle years ago.
as is the Death dates for both William in 1915 and Catherine in 1921.

My research is limited but I now recognise how key the M certs can be - hence the enquiry.
