Missing street name, Miles Platting, Manchester

Hi Folks,

I have looked at 2 maps of Miles Platting, one dated 1922, and another 1892.  There used to be a small street which ran between Barwick Street, and Lodge Street, Miles Platting.  It is shown on the 1922 map, but as its only a short street, there is no name printed on it! Grrr!

Any old locals out there have any idea of the name, or if anyone has a map with the name of the missing street, I would be grateful if you could let me know what it was called.

Hi Tom, looking at address search on 1891census, needs confirmation, could it be Sheridan Street?

I seem to think that too, Sheridan St ran between Barwick St, and Lodge St.  Strangely enough, there is another little street off that, which runs from "Sheridan St" to Coglan St, but there is no name on that either, apparently it only had a short name too!

There is a name on my 1950s A-Z that looks like Abingdon St?

Long name, short street! Can you find an Abingdon on the census? Sometimes they changed street names just to fool us...

If your looking on the census, might be worth checking what is near these ?
Brawick  street to Malton street and the other way to Coolan street.
Lodge street runs to the same both ways as above, with just one missing street inbetween. If you can follow that?

1950's A-Z!!!!!

That must be worth a bob or two now, all the recent ones Iv bought fell to bits within a couple of years! lol.   It is quite possible, as I cant find Abingdon Street on my maps.  My Dad's family used to live around the area, Ollerton St, Hayden St, Baguley St etc.  Just noticed your researching the surname BERRY!  That's our surname too! Small world eh!

Thats one of the 2 tricky Streets, that one runs parallel with Barwick Street, and meets Coglan St, and there is another which runs down from Barwick Street down to Lodge St.  The second one we think is Sheridan St, I wish I could see BarbaraH's A-Z with my own eyes, she's been good looking at it for me.

What makes this even more confusing is that at some time, some of the street names were changed.  Newburgh St became Ollerton St, etc. Why can't they leave things alone!  Thanks for all your help folks, it is very much appreciated.  I think this is going to be one of those searches!
