1660 hearth money rolls question
« on: Thursday 26 January 12 18:54 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,

I was looking at the 1660 hearth money rolls (bill macafee's website) and wondered what the phrase "2 Keyes" means?

It is listed as Barony: Tirkeeran, Parish: Clondermot, Townland: Caw (2 Keyes)  ???

I doubt its anything important, i just wondered if anyone knew what it meant?

Thanks

Hi,
The other bracketed items appear to give the old spelling or the old name for the townland. It might be that Caw was once known as Two Keys.

Yes i noticed that too, kingskerswell.

Seems the most likely solution, doesn't it?

Thank you!  :)
