HOOPER family countisbury

I am searching for the Hooper family. William was born about 1804 and I believe married either a Susanna May or Susan Ridd. I lean towards Susanna May but after going down the wrong route before am not holding my breathe.

William was born in Countisbury Devon. His son was John Hooper born 1836 in Lynton and married Lucy jane Field in the parish church of South Brent on 19th July 1862.

William died in 1869. most of census show him as living in Lynton. I would be grateful to anyone having information about who he married and about his parents to contact me.

The 1851 census shows them with 4 children aged between 9mths and 9yrs

Both 1841 and 1851 show wife as Susanna b 1814 Bittadon

A copy of one of their childrens birth certs will confirm her maiden name

Births June qtr 1843 
Philip Hooper  Barnstaple  10 47

However - as the marriage was pre-1837 - it won't give you William's fathers name

Have you seen the 1851 image?  It may be a coincidence but living next door to the Hoopers is a 49yr old unmarried Mary Hooper also b Countisbury

Hi Just found your query reg Hooper's, I am descended from Williams brother John, William married Susannah Ridd 30/3/1835 in Challacombe, His parents were William (1775-1841) and Joan Chugg (1777-1857),  Susannah died 25/9/1897 in Lynton.  They had eight children that I know of - John 1836-91), Betsey (1838), William (1839), David (1839), George (1842-1900), Philip (1845), Avis (1850)and William (1854).

I have traced Hooper's back to 1600 so far, if there is anymore info you would like just let me know.

How amazing that you have info back to 1600s. I have gone back as far as Susannah Ridd and have a 'bastardly order' which if you haven't git will send it to you however would love to see what info you have back to 1600s. So what relation have you worked us out to be. Love all this famiuly tree and finding new relatives.

Hi everyone, I am a descendent of William Hooper, born Se pt 13, 1853(4) in Lynton, England.  He died in the same area May 1, 1931.  His wife was Ellen Guy and they married in Camden.  They had 6 children, William David (1877 -1931), Catharine Mary Avis (1882-1884), May Lilla (1885-1899), my grandfather Ernest Percival (1886-1965), Elsie (1888-1930) and Clifford Guy (1896-198?).  Percy and Clifford left England and settled in the Niagara Region.  If you would like any information that I may have, please contact me.  I would love to hear from you.  If you have any info going back before William Hooper and Joan Chugg or descendents of William and Susanna's children, Philip, John, etc or any neat stories about them, I would love to hear about them and see stories that I have heard from my dad are true ( ex. one was a police officer who had to arrest the other since he was always in trouble).  Thanks so much.
