COMPLETED Burial at Old Mont a L'Abbe cemetery

Dear all,

Could anyone please have a look at the burial index of the Old Mont a L'Abbe cemetery for me to see if there are any details for the burial of Sarah Belzoni in january 1870?

Hi

The bad news is that there is no entry in the Mont a L'Abbe cemetery index for Sarah Belzoni.

However, there is good news.

I recalled the name Sarah Belzoni as being a person the librarian (Anna Baghiani) at the Societe Jersiaise was undertaking along with an Egyptian Historian and a gentleman from Belgium. They have in fact found Sarah's unmarked grave in Mont a L'Abbe cemetery although it is not in the published index, and published a paper on their findings of her life.

I cannot put Anna's email address on here as it contravines the  site rules but she is keen to speak to you.

thank you for your trouble. I will contact Anna about this, as the strange thing is that I did see pictures of Sarah's headstone, so it's very odd that she hasn't seen it...

Just to tie up the loose end you are correct in saying that there is a headstone. I was posting from memory and I had got it wrong!
