Hi Romany

Thanks for this - I think George is the brother of the chap I'm tracking, but it's all useful information.  They may have been in the same area.

Hi Kuri

Thanks for this - I'll head over & check it  out.  Given I live in the North East it's very difficult for me to access archives in the Kent area, so I'm having to do nearly all my research on line & rely & double & triple checking everything.

Hi,
John Breeds b. 1851(husband of Alvina Eastwood) was the nephew of my 3rd. g. grandfather John Breeds, b. 1801 at Tenterden Kent.

My John Breeds married Ann Farndell at Ewhurst Sussex in 1820.

Ann Farndell attended the death of Patience Farndell at Tenterden Kent in 1842.
Patience was a "Hawker of Goods"....she was 77 years old at time of death,
therefore born c. 1765.

Patience Farndell married Richard EASTWOOD at Ebony Kent.

Patience had a son Richard Farndell at Windlesham Surrey in 1788.
I believe he is the same man who used the name Richard "Isted" when he married Ann Fuller at Salehurst Sussex
in 1808. They had 3 children born at Ewhurst, Sussex with the name Isted.
This Richard "Isted" was "of Tenterden" at the time of his marriage.

12th Oct. 1794, at Sandhurst (near Etchingham) Kent, William Eastwood was baptised......son of Patience "Furnell" and Richard Eastwood.......I have not found any trace of this William Eastwood since his baptism.

My Ann Farndell has reported that she was born c. 1806 at Robertsbridge Sussex but there is no such record.

Two more relevant baptisms:
Mary ISTED bpt 10 Dec 1797 Lamberhurst KEN
Ann ISTED 28 Apr 1801 Herstmonceux SSX

An Isted researcher told me that the above Mary and Ann were children of
Patience and Richard ISTED who were TRAVELLERS......this according to the
baptism records.

Ann "Isted" b. 1801 at Herstmonceux, could possibly be my Ann Farndell
but I have no proof.

I am told by two different sources, one a Breeds and one an Eastwood, that the Eastwoods used the alias "Histed" and variations, at one time.

Mrs. Ann Breeds (nee Farndell) witnessed the marriage of
John HAWKINS and Charlotte Ansell at Tenterden 25 March 1828
my notes from parish registers indicate John Hawkins was a Traveller.

Ann Breeds also attended the marriage of Robert Farndell to Maria Russell
at Tenterden 18th March 1828......I believe Robert was Ann's brother.
Shortly after this marriage a Removal Order was issued to Robert and Maria,
sending them to Salehurst, Sussex.....Robert is shown as Robert Farndell
alias "Hysted" on the Removal Order.

I need help in finding more information on this Richard Eastwood
as I believe he was my 4th g. grandfather.

Patience Farndell's approx. year of birth 1765 gives an indication
of when Richard was born......I haven't found a birth or a death
or any census record for him.

I wonder if John Hawkins was related to Philadelphia Hawkins who
married William Eastwood.....and is "my" Richard related to William.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Foxglove.

Sorry, forgot to include marriage details for Richard Eastwood,
sent to me by a cousin in the UK, from the KFHS cd's :

Ebony marriage banns 1823 Richard Eastwood ba Ebony  Patience FARNDELL
(no parish given for Patience)

Farndell is extremely uncommon in Kent, so I am positive she was my
Patience who was born c. 1765.

Hi Foxglove

I don't have my records to hand, so I'll have to take this home & do some digging around it to see if I've got anything that links up.  The Eastwoods seem to have been fairly prolific, so "your" Richard & "my" William may be cousins or something, but I'll see if I can find anything for you.
