Sternfield Jordans
« on: Thursday 02 February 12 16:14 GMT (UK) »
Has anyone found the parents of Abraham Jordan (b about 1733) and his wife Barbara (maiden name maybe King). They are recorded as having married in Sternfield church around 1770. Not sure about the date, it was not clear on the fiche.

The had a number of children whose christenings are recorded, these include Simon (1775), Letitia (B/D 1781) Hannah (1778) and Lethia (Could be a second Letitia 1782).

Given the name tradition we may be looking for an Abraham or a Simon born around 1705. Whatever it is it will be a biblical name, on the maternal line it is probably Mary or Letitia.

There could be a direct link to the Pakenham Jordans, they had an Abraham tradition but the migration distance seems too great, however, a lot of land was being enclosed in the mid 1700s in the Pakenham area. All have direct links to farming.

Thanks

I had an Abraham and Mary showing up with probable birth dates around 1720 but no location attached, just Suffolk, it looks like Mary 1789 could well be the Mary in question.
