Hi gnu.
Many thanks for your quick reply.
So they were living with their grandparents, I was hoping to find them with their parents William and Agnes (nee Burgess) who married in June 1861 at Dumfries, who I have not been able to find on any census after their marriage. Once again many thanks.
Dave.

Hi Dave

What age was William and where was he born? I'll have a look for them.*

I'm interested in your Agnes Burgess - she could be related to mine (Agnes was a family name)  but would have to check.

I'm having probs finding Agnes after Chalmers' birth.

Is this her in 1861?

23 St Michael Street, Dumfries
Janet Paterson Gillespie, unm,  82, Clergyman's daughter, b. Kells, KKD
Francis, sister, unm, 69, -do- , -do-
Agnes Burgess, servant,  21,  b. Dumfries Burgh

(Mr Gillespie, their father, baptised my 2 x great grandmother, Jean Burgess, in Kells   :))

If it is Agnes, I've trace her back to the 1841.

Hi gnu.
I have Agnes on the1841 census living with her mother Agnes Burgess born 1799 and sister Isabella born 1824 and brothers James born 1834 and John born 1836 all in Dumfries Dumfrieshire. Agnes Burgess (nee Hogg) their mother is my GGG/Grandmother who married William Burgess about 1818. I cannot find my GGG/Grandmother on any later census, and I am trying to find out what became of her. Seeing William passed away in 1866 it is possible that she remarried, I cannot seem to find a death for a Agnes Burgess that fits.
Many Thanks.
Dave.

Hi Dave

I think I found the same family.

I've tried many different ways to find Agnes - a second marriage, a death, censuses, etc. but so far nothing is coming up. I've not checked whether she went to England or emigrated.
