A General Parish Records Question
« on: Saturday 04 February 12 12:48 GMT (UK) »
I have been somewhat confused with the status of Duckmanton in the Parish records. Can anyone explain it to me please? Is it a place in it's own right? Sometimes it's Sutton cum Duckmanton, sometimes Sutton on the Hill, it's confusing me. Not only that but my ancestors farmed at Far Duckmanton! Please can someone guide me through this minefield?

Hi

Sutton on the hill is on the Derbyshire/ Staffordshire border and is  miles from Sutton cum Duckmanton.

Sutton-cum-Duckmanton contains the villages of Arkwright Town, Duckmanton, Long Duckmanton, and Sutton Scarsdale. Hamlets include Sutton Spring Wood.

If you do a google there are lots of sites that explains.
