Rees of Llangybi area
« on: Saturday 04 February 12 15:15 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to find a baptism for my 3 x grt grandfather EVAN REES, a blacksmith, born about 1790 in Cardiganshire and living in Llangybi in the 1841 census.

I think he married MARY JONES in 1815, who was born about 1794 in Cellan. Her father was THOMAS JONES. The last census in which she appears is 1851 in Llangybi as a publican. She is described as married but Evan isn 't in the 1851 or 1861 censuses for Lampeter or Tregaron.

Can anyone help?

Only just noticed your message. WHen I read your message I knew the Rees family of Llangybi (Blacksmiths etc) rang a bell, and searching my chaotic virtual archives just now found the information which is about 5 years old.  I have tried to contact the author of these (who must be related to you) to ask her if I may pass the correspondence on to you.  This contains a huge amount of information.

I live close by the old smithy - hence my interest.

I will be in touch.

Jen

Great to hear from you Jen.

I'm really excited about learning more about the Rees family in Llangybi. I don't exactly live near Wales so it's been hard to get much info so far about this branch of my family tree. My mum's maiden name was Rees.

Looking forward to hearing from you and thanks!

Alison

My email address is *(or * - both end in the same bucket!)

What is yours.  Its easier to communicate via snail email as it were - as I can then attach docs easily etc etc.

Cheers

Jen
