American Citizenship Certificate
« on: Saturday 04 February 12 22:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

Would anyone know if it is possible to get a copy of Citizenship of America Certificate, for my Great Uncle, Ronald Henry Vincent who was an Australian National.

Together with his wife, [Aida Ellen Vincent, nee Cannon], he sought Citizenship in 1975, [Hawaii].

I do not know if it was granted, however they did have Social Security Numbers, so I suppose you would have to be a Citizen of America, to have one of those.

What Department would I have to consult.??

Hope someone can help with my query.

Edit: Ronald died in 1982

You don't need to be a citizen to get a U.S. Social Security number-

I think only the person being naturalized gets a certificate (and probably costly to replace if lost) but there would be application forms filled out which contain details such as birthdate and place, when arrived in country, etc. Ancestry have a database with some older ones online but it's doubtful if you could get copies of anything from 1970s.
U.S. National Archives might be the place to start- http://www.archives.gov/
Section of Naturalization- http://www.archives.gov/research/naturalization/index.html

Added- section for ordering records here but can't see date restriction mentioned-
