thomas douglas buist was born 1882 born perth scotland, his parents were john brown buist born 1860 perth scotland and isabella kidd 1858 perthshire scotland.....ummm, just got a mariage certificate sent, trying to read it.........thomas and lillian married at the manse, myers st, gelong on 22 feb 1913..... says lillian a spinster age 26..lookslike birthplace, skipton victoria, says she is a cook in mounyside winchelsea, thomas is a gardener, age 30 also in mountside winchelsea.....john brown buist is a railway signalman and edward mccarthy brannagan is a night watchman...............oooh excitement !!!........looks like thomas parents are in winchelsea and lillians in bendigo............

You can see Simpson on Googlemap - just about swallowed up by Milton Keynes now.

Cannot see baptisms for the two older girls but the baptism of the baby who died on the voyage is recorded on FamilySearch.

Swanbourne is 9 miles from Simpson.

1841 census shows Caroline ANSTY 20, with Sarah 3 and Rebecca 3 months in the same household as William RICH (farm labourer), 40, and Rebecca, 40, RICH at Simpson, Bucks.  Edward does not seem to be with them at this census and I just can't see him - possibly mistranscribed

thats great, she is with her parents there...do you know who else was on that census, or where william or rebecca may have been born ?.........so now to let everone know i have found a public tree with this family and more on it, it stops at william rich and rebecca bates, carolines parents.  i am awaiting a reply frm the owner of the tree, very excited....... now to work on william rich and his wife rebecca bates !!!!!!!

Unfortunately the 1841 census only states whether or not a person is born in the county in which they are living in 1841 so not much help there.  Also the ages are usually rounded down to the nearest 5 or even 10 years, so, again, only an indication.

There are a few entries submitted by LDS members on FamilySearch (not actual records so may not be reliable) suggesting the the marriage of William RICH and Rebecca Bates took place at Simpson in 1820.  One gives a death for Rebecca - 2 June 1843, and states that Rebecca's mother is Mary JARVIS.  A burial for William RICH is also given - 24 December 1847.

FreeBMD does have deaths registered at Newport Pagnell for Rebecca RICH, June qr 1843, and William RICH, Dec qr 1847.
