baptism in Bromyard WALTON
« on: Tuesday 07 February 12 18:36 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I wonder if anybody can help me piece together some information on William and Hannah Walton who were my greatx3 grandparents, please?

They appear in the 1841 census and 1851 census as living at Pipers Cottage, Whitbourne (although I believe that the modern-day address of the same cottage is probably Pipers Cottage, Suckley Road, Knightwick, Worcester WR6 5QE.

According to the census, they were both born in Linton near Bromyard (William c1802, Hannah c1806). I don't know when or where they were married (I have entered Whitbourne 1833 in my records but cannot find the document to support this). Their six children were all born in Whitbourne; the first was James c 1829.

William is listed as a widower in the 1861 census. I don't know when Hannah died.

According to the National Probate Calendar, William Walton died 28 April 1879 at Pipers Cottage in the Parish of Whitbourne. His death was registered at Bromyard (Vol 6a Page 390).

Please can anyone help me with the baptisms and marriage of William and Hannah? Also Hannah's surname and year of death.

Thanks in advance.

you might have got the marriage from this
william walton to hannah
marriage 1833,linton,bromyard,herefordshire
birth 1803 at linton
christening 22nd feb 1803 at linton
all of these are submitted entries from the I.G.I (so should be treated with a great degree of scepticism)
cattell,alcester
vickers,sulgrave
hewish,holborn
manley,bethnal green
barnes,bassingbourn

Thank you.

I can't locate those records online. Does Hannah have a surname in the marriage entry, please?

I noticed your query about Piper's and can tell you that your Piper's cottage in Whitbourne is definitely NOT the same as Piper's in Knightwick.  There are two cottages of the same name - probably both owned by the same Mr Piper.

My family of DANIELS resided in Piper's, Knightwick on the Suckley Road in 1861 and probably earlier - I don't have my research notes to hand at present.

Hope this helps you.

It would appear that William WALTON is likely to have married on June 5, 1827 in Suckley WOR to Hannah PARRY.  Hope this helps.  Jill

It did help, Jill, thank you.

William and Hannah are living with Esther Parry in the 1841 census, which provides further evidence that Hannah's maiden name was Parry. Appreciate you coming back with the information.
