Thank you for the addtional posts.  I'd llove to reconnect with family over there.

My Doyle's originated from Carrick Slavin.  Michael Doyle ended up in Killarkin.  I believe these are both northern Ireland.

It's more likely that Killarkin's the one in County Meath (which is not in Northern Ireland). Carrick Slavin certainly isn't in Northern Ireland.

Don't know what the confusion is but you have them on the census in Leitrim.   http://goo.gl/y7GyX

"Michael Doyle, son of John and Esther Doyle, died on 23-Jun-1949. His funeral card lists a place of Killarkin, Co. Leitrim...."

Killarkin, Co. Leitrim is a townland just outside Leitrim Village down the church road.....

Thanks for the correction but the point still remains that neither place is in Northern Ireland  :)

Just called to the O'Briens...no one at home but got talking to neighbour and yes they are your O'Briens! 110%

I did a quick tree up and the neighbour confirmed quite a few bits. They would be descendants of Dennis born circa 1900 who married Mary....their son is still living there and his brother lives nearby!

Can stop by again when I'm passing.....

Wow, thank you all for your help.  I really appreciate it and can't wait to hear from them.  My mom who's still around will be overjoyed.
