Anne Macalister/Ramsay. father John Macalister member of council in Penang. Anne disappears after her marriage at Sholapore, India. to John Baptista Ramsay 1831. Does anyone have this lady on their tree?/ or know anything about the Macalisters of Penang or what happened to her after the marriage. Thanks //

The National Probate Calendar for England & Wales records the will of Anne Ramsay (wife of John Baptiste Ramsay) late of 9 Victoria Road Kensington who died 21 October 1874

She is at that Kensington address in the 1871 census. Aged 60, born Prince of Wales Island (the official British name for Penang)

She was at that address in 1861 too

Wow. You have no idea how long I've looked for this. Only record we ever had was for the marriage in Sholapore India. i have Find My Past and they are hopeless have the place of birth as Wales!!! Thanks heaps Miriam Australia

Have you informed FindMyPast regarding the transcript error?

The original says Prince of Wales Island - not that dissimilar to Wales

But if nobody tells FindMyPast, how can they correct it?

yes shaun I notified them straight away. I have found so many mistakes with them it's not funny
