After sending inquiries as to why I hadn't received my ordered death certificates, I received this notice today.

"Be advised that our processing time for non-certified requests is running approximately 16-18 weeks from the date the check or money order was cashed by this office."

I read that the PA death certificates for this time period are being digitized and are expected to be on Ancestry by the end of 2013.

What do you do if you only know the name and possibly the county?

The first set of records are now online.

It's also worth noting that Pennsylvania residents have free access to these and other Pennsylvania records on Ancestry.  http://phmc.info/ancestrypa
