Hi Tammy

"if all else fails - I will try to get that birth cert from the Singapore archives...though I don't have all the info they want yet..but I will try."

If you don't get any more information on Edwards birth I would try for the marriage, as you have more information on this, you know it was in Singapore and you also have rough idea of the year, and it will probably give you his fathers name and occupation, also the witnesses may be family members from the birthday book.

Hi Marg

Yes that sounds like a good idea- I seem to have come to a wall and the only way over is to buy a cert. I am tired of waiting for " those who know " to share info on Grandad with me...this is the only way forward.

I did not know his parents name would be on the marriage cert....but I will give that a go.

Thank you...hope yo have a good weekend

Hi Tammy

I have found from past experience , that if the information is not forthcoming from people in the know, that there are usually a skeleton or two in the cupboard, so be prepared, I have got a shed full of skeleton's

Hi Marg

LOL ;D yes I am prepared for that one...I think I may have found one already with the dates in an archived copy of the newspapers...but I think they must be a huge one lurking which may explain why someone in the family is refusing to share info....who knows...???

No reply yet from the Singapore graves people - so as soon as I can I think I will go ahead and get the certs for my grandad and maybe a marriage certificate.

I contacted my cousins to tell them we were doing this project to search for the Family tree and now will wait to see if any info comes...

it is frustrating though....as I cant seem to do anything  for the moment...

 :-\

By the way what kind of skeltons so people find in families besides the usual kid out of wedlock thing?? ???

Hi

Oh I see what you mean...still its all life huh? NO not on the POW thing yet as I want more info on my Grandad's birth cert first...the POW search will involve more money and I need to budget for the cert and then move from there...

I am still combing through old newspaper archives to see what I can find...

and also tracking down Auntie G's info..
