Cut single person out of picture

I have a group picture, which has my grandfather in it.  Is there a program I can use to cut my grandfather from the rest of the crowd that surrounds him? \Its the only picture I have of him, and I need to use just his picture. He is the man in centre of picture with flat cap and pipe and hands in pockets, on the right of the man with eye patch.regards Trish

Hello,Adobe photoshop is very good, but it depends whereabouts the person is in the picture,he may get bits cut off also.

If no software, could you print it off and cut it out and stick on a fresh background and re-scan if you need it in the computer

There are 2 freebies that you can use to cut/paste,Gimp & Paint.NET.

I think your grandfather knew you were going to do this!  He stood at the front so there wouldn't be any bits missing
