Samuel Haynes
« on: Thursday 01 March 12 15:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi, This is my first post so hopefully I am doing it right.

has anyone come across a Samuel Haynes b. 1792 in Bitterley, Shropshire. married to Anne Watkins in 1813 also in Bitterley.
I have been trying to find out more about this ancestor of mine but have drawn a blank. the 1841 census gives his place of birth as Bitterley Shropshire but I have failed to find any parish records to confirm this.
Any help would be gladly accepted
Nick

Thanks for the link, I will start searching to see if I can find him.
Why do many of the parish Records only seem to go up to 1812, I have often wondered why they all appear to stop at this year.

The 1841 census usually only gives the county of birth, so if it`s Shropshire it will have Y(es) or N(o) , It doesn`t normally state the place of birth ,
The  marriage will usually only give  the `abode `at that time   so they may have been born elswhere, ie - of this parish, or `wherever`.

Hope that makes sense, have you found Samuel in 1851.

MODIFIED, yes I can see him in 1851  , b Bitterly . but his wife is born Radnorshire .

You are correct on the 1841 Census the page state it was Ludford in the County of Salop and in the approptiate box it is marked (Y)es.

It must be on the 1851 Census I had the information that he has recorede his place of birth as Bitterley, but I cant place the copy of the 1851 Census at the moment.

I have detail of them being married on 23 February 1813 at Bitterley, and on the 1841 Census I have his mother Ann Haynes aged 75 years living with them but no trace of her by the 1851 census, so I assume she had died in between the two census dates, and his father must have died before 1841.

Thanks for your help and interest, so far.

These are Non Conformist records, there are a few Haynes and variations  in Bitterly, but no Samuel.
P008671   1658-1812

I expect you already have his death
Samuel Haynes. Death Date: 08 May 1866
Death Place: Ludford, Shropshire, England Age: 75  Birth Date: 1791

Very elusive  ???

very difficult to find. I am going through the Parish records at the moment and although there are several haynes/haines entries, nothing for a Samuel.

I'll keep looking and hope I find one soon.

Thanks for your help

Hi,

This is the only Ann HAYNES (and variant) death I can find in the Ludlow RD between 1841-1851,

Ann HAYNES    Sep Q    1845    Ludlow    18  63

Possible parents for Samuel, but no baptism found yet to show confirm his father's name, and there is always the possibilty that as no relationship is shown in 1841 Ann Snr is not Samuels mother but another relation :-\

Marriage
1786  Bitterley, Shropshire
William HAINES
Ann BROMLY

14 Feb 1786 William Hains and Ann Bromley. W.--Sarah Watmor, George Bromley

Regards,
Daisy
