Hi Jed, It's Sharon....

William's mother Izett had a brother called Charles Scott - he was a carpenter living in Tormoham/Torquay area so it could be him on the 1871 census, working his way up-country.
Izett and Elias both died when William would have been very young, so I think could be feasible that "Uncle Charles" living close by would have taken him in and he was trained as a carpenter.

Izett and Elias both died in Tormoham, Torquay (my theory is that they moved there after the fire at Moretonhampstead) in the 1840's, so I think this could be my elusive GG Grandfather!!!

I will email you some certificates and you will see what I mean.

I think I drew a blank with those two birth certificates....I went through a phase of ordering loads!

I also have lots of info on Izett which is very interesting...
