David,
Thank you so much for the great effort you have put in on Mary. As you say, it is really a 50/50 call as to which one! I hadn't thought about trying the WILLS route, but perhaps there could be other possibilities in that direction? BLARS have been really helpful to me with past enquiries. Anyway, thanks to you , I now have some new avenues to research and you never know what may turn up. I'll let you know if I ever find anything concrete.
Best Wishes  - Jan

Hi Heather

Let us know if you have any specific queries about your Dilleys

I've worked  on a number of Dilley families from this area of Beds, but not yours.

My paternal ancestors were mainly from Henlow, Clifton and Southill  and I seem to link to most names in those parishes.

The marriage of Thomas Hills and Mary Grummit on Family Search is a member submission, which I never trust, although there is a Mary Grummit baptised in Southill at the right time, which would fit with Mary Hills in censuses. But without confirming the 1816 marriage entry with Clifton parish register, for me it's all speculation!

Perhaps someone/Father Christmas will be going into Bedford Archives before Christmas  and could check Clifton PR!

As per the Beds Surnames Index CD available from Beds FHS (thought you had a copy David) .....

There's a Thomas Hills of Shefford Hardwick, marriage at Clifton in 1816....
.... & also a Mary GRUMET marriage at Clifton in 1816

Cheers John

Thanks John. (I forget to check the Surnames Index). So it looks as though the member submission is right.
