Hi Baloo.
Going back on the Roziers of Grundisburgh there seems to be a connection here as I had note of Elizabeth Warfer and 3 children who were born in Needham Market - Sarah 1819, Harriet 1822 and William 1825. But similar family of William and Sarah Cook - same names plus others - are on the early census. Do you have any other details from Grundisburgh - more on Henry B 1759 you said. I have a SAmuel  born in 1783/4 Grundisburgh. Anything might help.  Thanks again.

Hi all-
I'm very interested in all your comments on the Rozier family of Needham Market. I am descended from an Elizabeth Rozier/Rosier b.c 1817 in Needham Mkt (according to various census). She married Thomas Markwell in 1836. I wondered if she could be the first child of William and Elizabeth Warfer (1817-19 seems like a while after marriage not to have had any children- and a first born girl may have been named after her mother, right?) Has anyone discovered an Elizabeth fitting this d.o.b, and do independent records survive from that period?
James

Hi James.
Thanks for your input. At present all I can do is confirm the marriage of Elizabeth to Thomas Markwell on the 22.12.1836 but at Stowmarket. I have no notes where this came from. Could I ask what census you have seen her on and give a few more details about the rest of the family. Some other names may help.
Best wishes

Hi,

They were married in Stowmarket in 1836, yes, the following children resulting from this marriage:

Sarah Ann 1837-
Benjamin 1839-
Thomas Edward 1845-
?Charles? 1850-
Elizabeth 1853-
Edgar 1856-
Isaac 1859-

There are more, but I don't have all the information in front of me at present, but after some further research, I have answered my own question, it seems:

1841 Stowmarket, Regent St.
Elizabeth Markwell aged 20, Bargeman's (wife) born Suffolk
(no Thomas, but two children)

1851Stowmarket, Gipping St.
Betsey Markwell aged 33 b. Stowmarket
(With Thomas, Railway Lab. and children)

1861 Bury St. Edmunds, Eastgate St.
Elizabeth Markwell aged 43 b. Stowmarket
(with Thomas, Railway Labourer and children)

1871 Stowmarket, 5 Cardinal's Road
Betsey Markwell aged 53 b. Stowmarket
(Thomas now Chemical Works Lab + children)

1881 Stowmarket, 4 Regent's Street
Elizabeth Markwell aged 63 b. Stowmarket
(no Thomas, with Son Isaac)

1891 Stowmarket, Bond Street
Eliza Markwell aged 74, Charwoman, wid, b, Stowmarket
(with son ?Charles? and family)

The Needham Market link came from an unreliable source, I fear.  But, without full detail of the marriage record, I wonder if her home parish was Needham Mkt in 1836...

So, to slightly change my line of enquiry (apologies for the false information), do any of you have any leads on an Elizabeth/Betsy Rosier/Rozier b. 1818 in STOWMARKET?

Thanks and have a good weekend

James

Hi James.
Sorry had a good look but cannot add more to what you already have in the Stowmarket area. Most of my research comes from Needham Market. Best wishes.
