I don't believe that these 3 children were actually born in Kedington?
There are no matching births, on FreeBMD, in the Risbridge district (which covers Kedington).

Best fit for Arthur is:

June qtr 1896
Bury St Edmonds district    vol 4a, page 809

Booer, Arthur
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Thank you both. Since posting I found Nellie on the 1911 census which gives her birth as Great Wratting so could you please amend my request accordingly. Out of interest I found three Bowyers born in Kedington in the mid 1800's on the BT at the Soc of genealogists that were not recorded in the church birth register. Streat

This lookup was very confusing  ???

Taken from Great Wratting register.

Several Bowyer couples and several single Bowyer women baptised children around this time but none of the names exactly fit.

There was an Ellen Maud (Ellen sometimes changed to Nellie I've found) baptised 1st Oct 1883 d/o Fanny Sophia Bowyer

Ellen Florence d/o Amelia Bowyer 26th july 1885
Ellen Beatrice d/o Harvey Joseph and Kate Bowyer of Great Wratting 1st Jan 1893
Cuthert s/o Harvey and Kate Bowyer 30th June 1895

No John or Arthur that I could see.  Not sure if any of them are right.

I don't know if you had any luck with these kids, there was also a brother Arthur with them in the Kedington Workhouse in 1901, he was aged 5.   Nellie and Arhur had been discharged from the workhouse by the 1911 Census but poor John was still there.  He was born 28 Feb 1898 and stated that he was born at Kedington when he joined the Royal Navy in 1913. He was serving aboard HMS Indefatigable when it was sunk at the Battle of Jutland on 31 May 1916. He was one of only 3 survivors of 1,019 crew and taken Prisoner of War. John returned to the UK after the war and served in the RN for a few years more.  I cant trace him after that point.

I suspect that the births of Nellie and Arthur are those registered April Quarter of 1893 and October Quarter of 1894 at Risbridge Suffolk (neighbouring Kedington/Haverhill).

GRO Index for Nellie/Arthur's Birth Reg has no Mothers mn so they are illegitimate.
Cant find Johns on there.

Also in the workhouse 1901 is Mary Anne Bower , Widow, born c 1817 Kedlington .
Grandmother ?

I've searched high and low and John Bowyer seems to simply disappear off the face of the earth when he was discharged from the RN.  If anybody can help me to find his later life I'd be very grateful. thanks Pete
