A list is being complied at the site below.

http://www.worldwar1veterans.com

not sure yet if they mean people who returned alive or only those who returned and stayed in Ireland.

Thanks for posting this. I'm glad to see an organisation prepared to create a true list of those from Ireland who served in WW1. I've sent them details of my grandfather. Thanks again.
Corrigan (Dublin); Terry; Rourke; O'Rourke;Dalton;Ellison;
Nevin; Quin;Long (Cork and USA); Supple ... more to follow no doubt!

« Reply #3 on: Sunday 08 September 13 12:24 BST (UK) »
This is voluntary project is to provide a database of all world war 1 veterans 1914-1918 from Ireland. This is an all Ireland project and it does not matter if the WW1 veteran did not return to Ireland or what army, navy or air force, medical, voluntary aid detachment and reserve services they enlisted and/or volunteered for during 1914-1918.

The website is www.worldwar1veterans.com

Regards

Maria

I was waiting for a reply to an email before posting the change of name but no show, so just to say at this stage there are 22,000 names on the database and hopefully that will be 25,000 before the end of the year.

The person doing the work would be delighted to receive more names and any contacts which could lead to increasing the database. For example contacts in long established firms or clubs which would have lists of employees/ members that served in the war.

There are contact details on the site.

They are also planning to campaign for a public memorial.

This data base is now up to 35,000 names.
The campaign to have a memorial in ROI and NI to remember those who returned home continues.

If your relative isn't listed yet why not add them yourself.

Can't see any way to add a large amount of veterans. I have fairly complete details of several hundreds of WWI soldiers (killed and survived) but after taking a look at the database I won't be adding the names I have.
