John Alfred Birch

I have a John Alfred Birch (b1874 Basford) in my tree married to a Elizabeth Sarah Woodley in 1898 Nottingham. However I've come across a tree that says his wife's name is Susannah Laing (b.1871). His kids names are Herbert S, Florence, Alfred D, George E, William H, Catherine E, Vivian May and Everett N, all I believe born in Rhode Island between 1898 and 1913. A second marriage? Anyone know who the mother is?

John Alfred Birch born 20 Oct 1874 England looks to have arrived Rhode Island circa 1890 and had wife Susanna and 1 child Herbert S in the 1900 census at Rhode Island
according to the 1900 census they are married 5 years and had 2 children, 1 alive.

John's dob and full names are from World War I Draft Registration Cards and Naturalization Record on Ancestry

John age 45 and Susanna age 49 are in 1920 Census Rhode Island with these children,

Florence 19
Alfred 17
George 15
Catherine 12
Olwenia 10
Everett 7
all children are born Rhode Island

1910 Census has him as Alfred J BIRCH, and shows he has been married once, Susan has married twice and 5 of 7 children are alive.

Herbert S Birch born 8 Aug 1898 and William H Birch born 31 Mar 1907 are children of John A Birch and Susannah Birch according to Rhode Island Births, 1636-1930 on Ancestry.

To me the John Alfred Birch who married Elizabeth Sarah Woodley 1898 is NOT the same John Alfred Birch who married Susannah Lang Oliver

Just to confirm Mick's findings that they were two different John Alfred Birches, this is the family of the one who married Elizabeth Sarah Woodley:

1901 census: Latimer Rd, Godalming, Surrey (RG13/606, f 172, p 45)
Elizabeth Birch, Head, Married, 29, London Bermondsey
Elizabeth M. Birch, Daur, 2, London Bermondsey
Annie Woodley, Sister, 10, Nottingham

I can't find John for definate in that census.

If you search for John Alfred Birch on the 1911 census, you will find he is definately a different John Alfred Birch.

The guy who married Elizabeth Sarah Woodley was born in 1870 in Bermondsey:

I take it you are related to the John born 1874 in Basford - so the Woodley marriage is irrelevant to your research.
