Hello,
My mother's name was Margaret, she was the third born - of six - to Thomas Gaskin and Mary Byrne of Leagh. I know about the grave at the Barrow track - but so far have not found any record of Julia's death apart from what it says on the tomb.
I don't live in Ireland - but have visited Old Graves in Carlow and also at Killeshin - that was a few years back.
Regards, o/n.

Hi,
I am in the process of researching the Gaskins of Cappalug.   I know I am coming to this discussion a bit late, but maybe the following information will be of interest:  Mary Gaskin married John Whiston on 16/6/1873 in Killeshin I think.  She was the daughter on John Gaskin and Judy/Julia Monahan Gaskin of Cappalug (who married in 1832 in Carlow).  I think she was born circa 1839/40. On her application for the Old Age Pension in 1915 she stated that in 1841 she lived with her parents in the townland of Rappa, in the parish of Shrule.  I think she died in 1919.
Her husband was an RIC man and they lived in for a while in Ballitore, and in the 1901 census they were in Kilcock.
John Gaskin and Mary Nelson Gaskin were my great-great-grandparents. I am happy to share my information if you are interested.  Anna

Hello Anna Brennan,
I have just rejoined R/C.com and don't believe I have contacted you before now - apologies if I have - senility sets in!
I am most interested to share information with you - I have finished my genealogy project and it's going to print - but I am still stuck on a few points.
Would love to hear from you - regards, O/N

Hello Jack2227,
Having just rejoined R/C.com and seeing the information you have posted - I don't recognise some of the names thus far, but will now conduct a bit more research into those Gaskin folk.
Many thanks for the info - regards, O/N.

Hello Sinan,

thank-you for your reply and links x 2 re information about the marriage and death of Mary Whiston - maiden name Gaskin, I have both of those civil certificates.  I have not been able to find out if the 'Julia' I seek is in any way related to the above lady's husband, John. So far, unable to find any specific info about said JW, such as birth, marriage record, and, although I have a tomb inscription of when she died, there doesn't appear to be any recording for her death in the civil records, although her death occurred  about 6 - 7 years following the introduction of the civil registration of BMD's.
Regards,
