Do you have any of William & Fanny's children? Do you have a birth certificate for one of their children to establish the mother's name, i.e. maiden name?

According to my records William and Fanny's children were all born in Oakham and were;

All birth years are from the census they may not be spot on.

According to my family tree programme his folks were William and Elizabeth Ellingworth (formerly Dexter).

What documentary evidence do you have to link the William Ellingworth you are looking at in the census with William Ellingworth and Elizabeth (Dexter)?

I think you need to get William and Fanny's marriage certificate as that will confirm their fathers' names. As I said earlier, the fact they have a child called Seth makes me suspect they are linked to the family I gave you in 1851.

As I see it you have two choices - take a chance and get the marriage certificate of William and Fanny Goodliff, which looks the most likely,

OR

firstly get the birth certificate of one of William & Fanny's children to confirm that she is Fanny Goodliff, and then the marriage cert to confirm their father's names.

There are certainly Ellingworth names in earlier Oakham records that may be connected.
