Looking for Bertha
« on: Thursday 29 March 12 16:03 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the maiden name of a lady called Bertha who married Claud Hoadley.

He was born in Indiana, USA in 1865 and died in the same place in 1947.

There were two children from this marriage.  Randall was born in 1914 and Earl in 1920.

I'm afraid that's all I know ???

Can anyone help please?

PS I have a picture of her grave from the find a grave website but it doesn't tell me anything new.

Thanks.

There are some family trees that have her listed as Bertha Syferd.  If she's the right Bertha, her family was in Concord, Fayette Co., Ohio in 1880 and Richland, Clinton Co., Ohio in 1900 & 1910.

I found a newspaper article in the Xenia Ohio Evening Gazette from 18 Nov. 1936 in a column entitled Jamestown News that says "Mr. Mace Dayton of Waverly, Ohio and Mrs. Claude Hoadley of Gasport, Ind. were guests last week of Mr. & Mrs. Earl Syferd."

The Ohio death record has Bertha living in Youngstown, Ohio, and there are also some indications of Eva & Florence Syferd living there.  This site has Eva, Florence, and a few other Syferds on the obituary index - http://www.cplwcho.org/record_herald_search.php
