« on: Friday 30 March 12 22:38 BST (UK) »
Hi,I am looking for any information on my Grandfather Commandant Ned (Edmund) Breslin 1898 - 1959.He was a member of "The Squad",was a good friend of Vinny Byrne, and is mentioned in Ryle Dwyer's book as getting a beating from British forces outside the Custom House. Can anyone help me,I think I saw a post in here somewhere that someone has some data on him,but I cannot find the post again.

Thanks in advance

Hi, and welcome to Rootschat, the only one that seems to be linked to possibly your Ned, is the thread Custom House Burning-Part 1/John Wilson which was started by Gary Deering?

Hi mbreslin

Make one more public posting (to make 3 in total) , and then you can send a Private Message to "'Seanod" via the Rootschat Private Messages. This may be your best best to get hold of him as a PM should go (hopefully) feed through to his email address - he has not been on Rootschat for a year.

So reply to me here, and that makes your 3 postings!

This is my first message to roots scan and i joined due to the fact that i am doing research in Commandant Edmund (Ned) Breslin as well. My grandfather was Daniel Breslin who was Neds brother and also served in the national army. I am from Derry where Ned and Daniel where from and grew up with some information about Ned and as i have become older i am more and more interested in his story and how his life and service in both the IRA and the Irish Army in a reflection of our troubled history. I am a child of the present confict and again some of the Breslin clan had become involved in the present conflict and as in Neds time we did all see eye to eye as to the way forward and some of the family did lose their lives in the troubles. I would be very interested in contacted Ned grandchild as we are related.

Hi Gerrycass

Make one more posting on this topic (ie: reply to this posting from me), that will then make you 3 topics posted on Rootschat and able to use the private messaging (PM)section.

To PM,  Mbreslin click on his name in the above left panel next to his postings, and scroll down in the new window to see the option to Send this Rootschatter Personal Message  (click the link).

You can also access the PM section from the top of this screen - it will say:
Welcome back, gerrycass, you have 0 messages .....

Click on the 0 Messages part (the number increases from 0 each time you actually have a recieved a message)

Cheers
