Stack, master tailor, 1800s
« on: Saturday 31 March 12 11:15 BST (UK) »
Seeking birthplace in Kerry of Garrett Stack who settled in Ennis, Co. Clare in the 1850s as a Master tailor. He had a brother James and sisters Kate, Margaret and Elizabeth (& maybe others). The sisters all went to the USA. Garrett married in Ennis in 1859 & had children Michael, Robert, Garrett, Mary, Margaret, Elizabeth, James, John Francis. Possibly related to the Robert Stack Scanlan family of Ballybunion. Thanks, Fiona

Garrett age 55 wife Ellen age 50 with children

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie

1911 census - Garrett Stack living with son Robert at 1 Chapet Lane, Ennis. No 2 Urban, Clare

Thank you, Rathmore! I have all his info since he arrived in Co. Clare as Iknow his family here. What has eluded us for about 5 years now is where in Kerry he originated ...  My search is not helped by the fact that almost every Stack family seems to have the same first names. I originally thought it would be easy to find a "Garrett" but it is very common among the Stacks.
