Susannah McDowell Clarke
« on: Monday 02 April 12 17:46 BST (UK) »
Hello, I wonder  if anyone could please find a possible marriage, and a death, for Susannah McDowell Clarke, according to S.P. she was born at Ardrossan in 1921, she is not to be confused with the Susannah McDowell Clarke, who married Robert Sanders at Ardrossan in 1912, allthough I strongly suspect the two are related, any help appreciated, Regards Del.

Del, see you haven't had a reply yet on this one.

Have you discounted the death showing on SP in Lanarkshire for a Susannah Clark (no e at the end)? The entry shows in 1958, birth year 1912. I haven't viewed it on the results screen, just a general search. You may find that there is an additional surname (as always two surnames mean either could me maiden and married surnames).

Monica  :)

Monica, I hadn't seen that one thanks, I thought I had found her in Canada, but not so sure now, a Susan McDowell Clarke married R.F.Bollen in India in 1944, he was Canadian, she was born Ardrossan in 1921, she died 2011 in Canada, just trying to find out who her parents were, thanks for your reply ,Regards Del.

www.threetowners.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=10533 - Awesome Sweet Caroline!

Two options here Del...someone could look this birth cert up at one of the main registry offices next time they are in doing their own research or maybe something on the obitiuary in Canada  - can only see a pay to view option on this so far:

Monica, have seen that obituary report, and wonder if it is her, also on-line is a profile for a Ron Bollen, it says that he was a Canadian airman, and that he was posted to Belfast in 1943, it also says that he met his future wife, Susan, on board a ship, the SS Argentina, and that she was in the WRNS., it goes on to say that after the war, he was quite well up in the oil industry, and that was because he had "taken the lead of his wife's parents",  there is also a tree on ancestry for a Ron Bollen, but it gives no information on his wife's parents. Regards Del.

I think from the huge amount of info/searches put together by 'Sweet Caroline' on the other board, if you, I would be fairly confident you are on the right trail. Just the question marks you have really on the origins of this Susannah born 1921....

Monica, There is a Susannah McDowell Clarke on S.P. that is how I discovered her, unfortunately there is no image for her, I think perhaps that I will have to send for it, to find out who her parents were, I'm pretty sure that they are Samuel Allan Clarke and Jessie Boyce, but can't prove it.......yet. Regards Del.

Hello, Have now established that Susannah, or Susan's parents WERE Samuel and Jessie Clarke, I now believe that she had at least two siblings, one younger, and one older, any further help appreciated, Regards Del.
