:) Hi Jim, iv'e had it confirmed some time ago by DLI and other experts that the two numbers belong to same man John William McIntosh, he enlisted in Stockton on Tees { my home town } 1904, with Militia first then regular, sent with 2nd batt { BEF } 1914, killed 21st September 1914 France & Flanders
I do have him in the 1911 census Essex
John William McIntosh.
Durham Light Infantry   Musician
Colchester: South East Barracks. Essex
I was interested to learn all photos of DLI in Durham records office, i would need to know what company he was with if any pre-war photos were taken wouldn't i, would it be possible to find that information.
Thanks to all, all the best Derek :) :D ;)

Hi Derek,

The reason I highlighted the caution was that if you are in possesion of the service record then it should mention a change of number? If it doesnt I would be concerned that you have two different men.
The DRO index is available online but finding a mans company will be impossible I fear as he will have served with possibly more than one unless you mean the company at the time the time of his death then you may find a mention in the war diary of the period?

Best

Jim

iv'e been assured several times that i have the same man regarding same numbers, i think i visit to DLI museum might be the best way to see if any help can be given on any photo that might have been taken
of my relative J W McIntosh.
All the best Jim Derek :) :D ;)
