McCutcheons Tullylish Co Down
« on: Sunday 08 April 12 15:00 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am looking for information about my gg-grandfather William McCutcheon who is listed as a blacksmith in Ballynagarrick Co Down on my g-grandfather, Thomas McCutcheon's  marriage cerificate. Thomas was born in 1864 and was married in Tullylish in 1900. I have Thomas on both the 1901 and 1911 censuses.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you
McCutcheon Dublin, Tullylish

To save others who wish to view the records from having to search-
Thomas McCutcheon in 1901-

Thomas McCutcheon in 1911-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thomas was baptized at Knocknamuckley on Aug 2, 1864.  He was said to be born March 26, 1864 to William McCutcheon and Mary Fulton, apparently unmarried.  Yes, I know and I would clip this out and attach it if my clip function worked today.  Illegitimate is written across the entry. Ballydougan is mentioned and weaver.

There are 2 Fultons families in Ballydougan in 1857 with no Mary listed.  Widowed Catherine 56 with children Jane 26, Margaret 17and granddau Eliza Jane 8.. Also the household William 60,. Elizabeth 63, Ellen 23 and James 19.  All were weaving families.   Nicholas and family is in Bleary and there is no Mary there either.

The only McCutcheon in the church is Francis and Jane of Ballynagarrick and they had a son William John baptized in 1852. They had son Hugh and dau Mary Ann earlier and are not included in the 1857  census which does not list everyone who baptized their children there.
