Schreders in Illinois
« on: Monday 09 April 12 14:00 BST (UK) »
I have eventually managed to find information on my mother's aunt (Emily Layton from Malvern, Eng.) who married Otto Schreder (who was originally from Germany) and they emigrated to live in Illinois in 1907.   I would love to find out more information about them, and especially to be in contact with a descendant.

Noticed George's birth was registered in Q3 - July/August/September 1905
Wondered if this could possibly be him - middle name Henry instead of Heinrich  ???

Wow, wow and wow !!   What amazing results - only a little bit short of actually getting in touch with descendants !   Thank you very much.  I will look , read and absorb all the information you have sent to me.  Can you say where you are living ? (the country / state)  In USA ?

Sandra you very kindly found information for me on my mother's aunt and her family who emigrated to Illinois.  I wonder if you could help me further or tell me where I might find the information - I should like to know if it possible to obtain the service record of George Henry Schreder who was in the US Marine Corps in WW11, joining in 1942.  Or some information on his time in the war.  also to know was he a career marine or just for the war ?   Was he married and if so, did he have children ?  Emily and Otto had two other children -  Margarette b: 1904 and Lilian C.b: 1911.    Is it possible to find out if they married ?   I understand the 1940 USA census is now available - how do I access that please ?  Or is it accessible for people in England ?

The 1940  USA census should show the children as adults and where they lived.

Sorry if it is too many questions !   But I am always impressed how much information people on Roots.web seem to have at their fingertips !
