George Kerr of Rosebank

Not sure about proving it, though .

From the headstone inscription Thomas Kerr & Jannet Standert  were George’s parents. Thomas died in Esbie January 26 1764 age 75.  The John I found died Old Esbie August 18 1777. So, Thomas would have been born 1689 and John  born 1705 – 16 years difference.

George KERR and Christina Burgess first born was a son - John b. 1770.  Their daughter Janet was born at Old Esbie 1771. They also had a son James b. 1773. The names seem to follow through.

Just a thought. Thomas Kerr must have been 47 and Jannet Sandert 44 when George KERR was born.

Sounds very likely, then.

It possible that the ages on the headstone was out a tad.

Any church records for the Kerr marriages?

The only OPR's/ Church records are on Micro Fiche. I have looked for a George KERR marriage  and a birth,but none . Just realised I din't look at the KER with one R

I'm sure I'll be at the library again.

Can't one go to churches and knock on the door to see if they have records.

Do we know where Old Esbie and Esbie were/are?

We don't know where or when George & Christina were married. I would guess around 1769, as their son John was born in 1770.

I'll see what I can find on Old Esbie and Esbie. Think it is between Lochmaben & Lockerbie.
